To gain a better understanding of how to use the editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Adobe After Effects CS6 and Apple GarageBand, I watched tutorials on both YouTube and Adobe TV. This gave me a broader understanding of the programmes and develop ideas further on what will be a realistic expectation for the levels of editing used in our trailer.

HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

In the planning stage of this production, I used media technologies to prepare for the construction of the trailer and ancillary tasks. This included devising plans for the filming for the trailer and researching techniques for the post-production stages of the construction.

A blog was created through the blog host Blogger to present my research, planning and construction tasks in a clear and easily navigable manner. The posts are organised by date, newest to oldest, so that the most recent entry is able to be seen immediately. The navigation bar on the right hand side of the page allows for posts to ...

be straightforwardly identified and viewed, as they are ordered by date and in groups according to the month and year in which they were published. The functions of Blogger include the ability to embed documents from Microsoft OneDrive, Prezi presentations and SurveyMonkey surveys, as well as uploading photographs. The blog therefore flows seamlessly and there is no need for downloading documents or visiting other webpages.

In addition to this, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2013 and Prezi were  sed to group different aspects of the planning, such as the location and costume preparations. The creation of slideshow presentations allows or ideas to be sectioned but also categorised within the overall topic. For example, the costume for the Prime Minister was separated from the other character’s outfits, but was still in a presentation regarding clothing overall. Microsoft OneDrive was used once again to upload these documents to online storage and embed them into the Blogger blog.

Microsoft OneDrive was also used throughout the planning section of this production for the shared editing of content. As the pieces were uploaded to an online source and the sharing and editing permissions can be adjusted, we could both contribute to a document without needing to be physically together.

The co-ordination of editing documents, as above, as well as preparing for filming, was carried out through the Facebook Messenger app. This allowed for group discussions to take place to ensure that the arrangements for meeting to film a scene were accurate and suitable for all those involved. This also allowed for a change of circumstance to be communicated quickly and efficiently to ensure that everyone was informed of the altered plans.
